Uni update

Well the my graffiti documentary for persuasive narrative is pretty much finished off although I'm not totally happy with it. In an ideal world I'd love to go back and do loads more interviews including ones with members of the public but as always with uni projects I just haven't got enough time.

I might upload it to my YouTube channel but to be honest it's a little embarrassing so i may just leave it hidden away somewhere.

Given that I've spent the past few day's exclusively on my documentary there's not a lot else to update about, apart from the fact that like everyone else on the course I'm now starting to freak out about the deadline, I only really have 5 days left to finish everything off. Not good.

On the plus side I did find out that Toy Story 3 will be having it's international premiere at the International Edinburgh Film Festival! awesome!

Personal Project -work in progress

(got to http://www.youtube.com/user/tomfeistwilson to see the video a bit bigger)

Still a long way to go before it's finished (I chopped off the end bit cause it was so horrible to look at lol) but i thought i'd upload this so there's some kind of progression in my posts.

It's got to be finished in a couple of weeks time so i'll upload it when i finally finish it off.

ps. any comments welcome (including how to make it better [although i know there's still a lot to impove on myself])

thanks

Uni update...

Well I've finished my sections of the animation that I've been doing for personal project but annoyingly I don't think I can post them up here because of copyright issues.

I'm going to e-mail Red kite this week and find out if I can post them up (hopefully slapping a large "copyright of Red kite Animations" at the start and end will convince them ) so maybe by the end of the week I'll have them up on the blog.

Advanced animation is going OK... just. I attempted this morning to fine tune my rig but I've decided that because the animation has to be submitted in a couple of weeks I really don't have time. I've elected instead to use a free pre-built rig that is far better than what I can do myself. I'm pretty sure that this will be fine for the coursework submission seeing as the module is about animation skills, not rigging, skinning or modelling.

I've finally managed to get the interviews with the Graffitti artist's that I've been in contact with about making my documentary for persuasive narrative. This is quite a big step forward and today i picked up a camera so that i can start shooting some footage too. I don't quite know when I'm going to get the time to go out and get some photographs of graffitti but I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and take a day off from other uni work and wander around Dundee looking for good piece's to use in the doc.

This is not really the best way to showcase my work (given that all of it's visual and I've got no pictures or videos in this post) but hopefully in the next few days I can get a few things uploaded.

cheers for reading, and as I said more interesting posts will follow :)

Red Kite

The project is now getting really exciting as we get closer and closer to being able to animate. I've spent most of my day today block out the very basic animation of the full sequence. unfortunately I think I'd really be in breach of contract if I started posting up video's and the like to show you which is a bit annoying seeing as writing about something that is mainly visual is a bit pointless.

Hopefully at the meeting tomorrow we'll be able to tie down who is doing which shot and really getting going with the full animation.
